Is an Usborne Books at Home business for you?I am proud of my Usborne Books at Home business. I am proud and excited to be sharing the love of reading by promoting such quality books to families in my community and across Canada. Obviously, an UBAH home business is not perfect for everyone (that's great, can you imagine the competition?) But it quite possibly can be a wonderful opportunity for you or someone you know. Read on to get more information and make your own decision. Is this a business that will fit for your and your world? I encourage you to jot down any questions you may have and either email me or phone me at 1-866-332-8022 (toll free).
Usborne Books At Home (UBAH) is the network marketing division of Riverwood Publishers Ltd., based in Newmarket, Ontario. Riverwood Publishers has the exclusive rights to Usborne Books in Canada. A combination of home show sales, direct sales, literacy fairs and fund raisers through a network marketing system, UBAH provides an opportunity for someone who wants to work for themselves, either part-time or full-time. Usborne Books have been marketed successfully through home party plans in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, England, the USA and here in Canada. Whether you are looking for full or part-time income, your Usborne Books At Home business can be tailored to fit your needs. Special incentives, free books, bonuses and awards are all added to your profit base to increase your total earnings. In the Team Leader and Supervisor’s Programs, you can increase your income dramatically by building and training a strong downline base. It’s a job to be proud of... and it’s fun! How much is this going to cost me? You start your own new business by ordering a kit, and signing a consultant agreement. View consultant agreement and current kit order form. [FIND OUT ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE START-UP SPECIAL!] All kits include the Start-up Kit which contains everything you need to start-up a catalogue sales only business. Or, it may be an option you would consider if you already own lots of Usborne Books. Keep in mind, the books sell themselves once they are shown and, although the catalogue is a great selling tool, your friends and neighbours will really want to see some of the books as samples. The more samples you have, the more books you will sell. Which is why UBAH offers so many options for consultants (especially new consultants) to earn FREE BOOKS. You will find it far easier to sell these excellent books to your customers, if they can actually see, feel, and experience them before they decide which ones they would like to have. What about quotas? What are my obligations? With UBAH there are no monthly quotas. There are no territories within the Canadian border. To maintain your "active" status, you must submit at least $500 in retail orders within the previous six months. These orders can be all in one month, or spread out over the six months period. It is recommended that you, as a consultant, attend the monthly training meetings in your area (if applicable) as well as keep in touch with your sponsor and supervisor on a fairly regular basis. You are the owner of your own business and you work for yourself... but there is no reason for you to work by yourself. The sense of teamwork and fellowship among the UBAH consultants is really quite remarkable. Yes free books are nice, but will I make any money at this? As you have probably already read, we Usborne people get really excited about free books ~ I think I've already told you a few times about how you can earn a ton of bonus free books. But, we don't get paid in free books... we get paid in cash. Good honest cash. The free books, the fun, the friendships... those are the bonuses. I make money at this business and you can too. Because of my own family situation, I personally can't afford not too -- and there are also those who own an UBAH business as a hobby. But most UBAH consultants look at their business as a fun, enriching and satisfying way to generate additional income, contributing to the family in a significant way. Here's some additional information... As a business owner, UBAH consultants enjoy many of the extra financial benefits (I'm talking TAX advantages here) of working from home. Start up costs are very low, payment is immediate, and you are in complete control of your income. The more you work, the more you make. That's the beauty of self-employment! So, yes... there is money to be made! Do I need to buy a new kit every season? No. You are only required to purchase a predetermined kit when you start up. After that, any additions to your kit are your choices. Every month, when new titles are released, consultants are offered the opportunity to purchase any or all at half the retail price. This allows us to provide our customers with all the newest titles available while ensuring a varied kit showcasing the new titles and the "old favourites". You, as an independent business person, decide which titles you would or would not like in your kit (family library) and can pick and choose which to order at half price. We are also offered samples of the upcoming customer specials at half price a few times a year. All books purchased as samples are GST exempt and tax-deductible business expense. How cool is THAT? What about Support and Training? Because almost all the consultants representing Usborne Books at Home are committed parents — indeed many are moms — we basically all "walk in the same shoes": juggling our Usborne businesses around soccer schedules, nap-times, volunteer work, and piano lessons and jobs outside the home. Many of our most successful consultants and supervisors home-school their children. So, believe me, your supervisor (me) sympathizes and can encourage & provide practical solutions and ideas for any challenges you may encounter. Most of the YellowDucksOnline team is long-distance from Mary (me, their supervisor) but that hasn't stopped our amazing group from continuing to achieve both personal and financial success. Why? because...
How many other consultants are there in my area? Unfortunately, I can’t provide you with accurate numbers of consultants in your area. But listen to this... not too long ago, I read that the potential of a network marketing organization can be measured by examining the ratio of active consultants to the population as a whole. A "ground floor" opportunity would exist if the number of active consultants in any given area were fewer than one half of one percent of the total population. That means that in a city the size of Greater Vancouver, for instance, with a population of more than one million, Usborne Books at Home would be considered a ground floor opportunity as long as there were fewer than 5,000 active consultants in the area. Bearing in mind we currently have roughly 1,500 active consultants in the entire country, clearly UBAH is very attractive indeed. In fact, although Usborne Publishing has been an international, award-winning publishing company since 1975, the Canadian home business plan has been in place for 15 years... Usborne is much more recognized by the general public, and the training programs and sense of teamwork are well established. We continue to experience significant growth every year. Clearly, Canadian families are increasingly supportive of home-based businesses and enriching children's lives through quality reading material. The proof is in the numbers... we know family values are increasingly important and even in tough economic times our business show impressive and continuing growth. I started my UBAH business while living in dynamic suburban Vancouver and enjoyed incredible growth and sales -- even though there were at least 10 consultants within walking distance of my home. Now, living in Salmon Arm for nine years, I understand and enjoy the benefits of owning a home-based business in a small town. (our population is around 15,000) In our town we have two or three consultants, each working at the level that fits their lives and financial goals. We have, by no means touched all contacts in this community (not even close!) as we really need at least 3 or 4 more consultants to boost our team. No one consultant can reasonably expect to service more than 1,000 families -- even working full time. Not to mention schools, community liaison programs, preschools, daycares etc etc. I know there is PLENTY of room for growth here in our town... and I am guessing that there are many parents in your community (just like you) looking for an Usborne representative! In fact, I would hazard to say that even if you and four of your friends decided to work together to start your businesses, you would only begin to cover the community you touch on a daily basis. It's sometimes easier to step out of your comfort zone with a "book-buddy" by your side. Fortunately, saturation is far from being an issue for UBAH consultants here in Canada. How many parties do I have to have? You are not obliged to have any parties. Although the most successful UBAH consultants will agree, home parties are the basis of our business... it is entirely possible to have a successful business while never having a party. This is your business and you make all the decisions. If you choose to market Usborne books solely through trade shows and market places, you can. If you wish to take only catalogue orders, great. Literacy fairs and fund-raisers sound more appealing to you? Terrific! Again, there are no monthly quotas for sales, and no quotas for how many parties you have. However, time and again major financial publications stress that direct marketing, network marketing, is one of the fastest growing industries in North America. Busy families love the convenience of shopping at home and the service provided by knowledgeable, independent consultants. And besides, as a consultant, you are not hosting the party (i.e. sending out invitations, vacuuming, preparing goodies). You are the invited "book lady" for a few hours. Then you go home. It really is a lot of fun. Beside my commission and building my family’s library, is there anything else I should know about? Many UBAH consultants are home educators -- in fact, Usborne Books at Home business was introduced in Canada 10 years ago by home-schooling families (they knew the books, but saw the business at a Christian Home Schooling conference in Tacoma WA). Since then, our business has continued to grow under these ladies' leadership and mentorship. We are very family-friendly and respect and honour the value of at-home-parents -- and support the challenges of parents working a business alongside family and outside-the-home work commitments. Every selling season (there are four each year) Usborne Books at Home runs contests for all consultants and supervisors. You can win weekend getaways, dinners for two, plenty of FREE books, and much more. They also run contests strictly for hostesses a couple of times a year. This way your most successful hostesses are rewarded even further. On top of all this, Usborne sponsors year long sales contests that allow winners to enjoy fun-filled vacations! These amazing holiday destinations have included England, the Bahamas, Cancun Mexico, a luxury cruise, Jamaica, Hawaii and even Italy! Doesn't this sound great? USBORNE BOOKS AT HOME |
